Learn to Homeschool Course: Deciding to Homeschool

Time Committment

If you’ve heard the stories of the homeschool students who finish their school day in an hour or two, you probably wonder if that’s really possible. In this lesson, we’ll explore not only what makes up a well planned school day, but also how much time it should take for each stage and what other time investments must be considered for successful homeschooling.

Lesson Summary

There are five areas of time commitment to consider when making the decision to homeschool.

  • Time to Plan
Assignments for Each Student: 1-2 hours per week
  • Time to Teach
Individual Attention to Each Student: 2-4 hours, depending on the age of your student.
  • Time to Evaluate
    1-2 hours every 6-9 weeks
  • Time to Grade & Report
1-2 hours per week, depending on state reporting requirements
  • Time for the Extras
Co-ops, sports, etc., including drive time

Homeschooling does require time, but it’s worth the investment!
