Overview

The Orton-Gillingham method is a well-known method for teaching phonics. Guide to Teaching Phonics was actually developed by Dr. Orton’s wife, June Lyday Orton. This spiral-bound guide gives the basic elements of Dr. Orton’s phonics and reading approach, including background on the English language and phonics, the principles for multi-sensory phonics instruction from Dr. Orton’s research, and the sequence of instruction. A corresponding set of glossy, printed phonics cards are also available.
