Overview

BJU Press Homeschool is a traditional-style, grade-level curriculum. A teacher’s guide, textbook, and workbook as well as a test booklet and key are available for most grade levels in Bible, English, reading/literature, handwriting and spelling/vocabulary, heritage studies, math, and science. Foreign language is also available, with Latin, French, and Spanish at the high school level and Spanish at the elementary level. Parents can do all of the teaching themselves, or they can take advantage of BJU’s Distance Learning Online program, where BJU’s teachers provide lessons in online video or on DVDs.

We have been using BJU for three years so far. We love BJU curriculum. While they give quality education to our children they also incorporate a biblical worldview. My youngest will be doing her k4 foundations and the oldest two boys will be doing their first and third grade work. BJU is set up in such a way that they give you a plethora of different materials that a parent may choose to use; we don’t use them all because there isn’t enough time. They do that so you can pick and choose what you want to incorporate into your homeschool. They give many hands on activities and extra reading activities, quizzes etc., but the beauty is you can tailor it to fit your needs. My third grader had a very hard time writing summaries in the beginning of 2nd grade, but by the end of the year he was writing them so well that I even thought he copied the synopsis from the back cover. It was that impressive. We love BJU and find the quality is so detailed and well planned out. We won’t be using any other curriculum for the foreseeable future. Side note: their customer service is superb. Very Christ-like attitudes.
